Four Decades of Engineering Leadership
The R&D Centre for Bicycles and Sewing Machines was established in 1982 as a premier autonomous society by the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Punjab, under a milestone international cooperation program supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Recognizing that Ludhiana was the undisputed capital of India's bicycle and sewing machine manufacturing, the Centre was established to upgrade regional manufacturing quality from rudimentary craftsmanship to world-class precision engineering. The Polytechnic College Wing was subsequently integrated to train hands-on diploma technicians equipped with live production, tool making, and CNC expertise.
